[Gabon, 2 June 2021] On the initiative of the CRESMAC director, the training platform of YARIS was used for the first time on 2 June 2021 as part of the MEGALOPS exercise, organised by the French Elements in Gabon (EFG). This initiative allowed the users concerned to familiarise themselves with the procedures for accessing the platform and, ultimately, to share the operational situation and coordinate within the framework of the exercise.
In particular, CRESMAC (Regional Maritime Security Centre of Central Africa), the Maritime Operational Centres (MOC) of Libreville and Port-Gentil, as well as the French high seas patrol vessel “Commandant Bouan”, on the Corymbe mission, demonstrated together the usefulness of YARIS in a training scenario; they were also able to verify that a vessel at sea can access and use the YARIS platform.
