13 Apr 2022

YARIS used as of the preparation of the GANo 22 maritime exercise

The initial planning conference (IPC) of the major Grand African Nemo 22 (GANo22) exercise was held on 23 March 2022, under the coordination of the French Navy and more precisely of CECLANT (Atlantic maritime area Command). The exercise will take place from October 10th to 17th, 2022 in all the countries of the Gulf of Guinea. The 2022 edition will be marked by increased means deployed by the invited navies, by the involvement of national administrations and centres, by training in area coordination, and by the use of YARIS by all stakeholders starting from the preparation and planning of the exercise.

The creation of national YARIS networks in line with the GANo 22 objectives

Since February 2022, at the request of several countries, GoGIN and the instructors of the Yaoundé Architecture have undertaken to train all the national administrations on YARIS in the light of the creation of national YARIS networks enabling the coordination of all the agencies involved in maritime safety and security.

The GANo 2022 exercise, will thus be able to rely on these information sharing and coordination networks to train national structures, as by then almost all the countries bordering the Gulf of Guinea should be connected.
